WCB Special begins June 8, 2023 Free to AHLA Members & Safety Subscribers

Workplace injuries - how to prevent them, handle them and help employees return from them is an incredibly important part of any successful business. This four-week series is being offered in partnership with WCB and will address these key principles with a clear application for your hotel. Session One: Psychological Injuries Thursday, June 8 | from 11am - 12pm MST Learn about Psychological Injuries in the workplace and what causes them, how they are diagnosed and what you as the employer can do to support your workers. We will discuss practical ways employers can build safe and supportive workplaces and help workers return to work after a Psychological Injuries claim. This session is designed for people in management, as well as people involved in health and safety coordination and claims/disability management within your Hotel. This webinar is part of a four week special, free to all AHLA members & safety subscribers. Each session must be registered for individually. Session Two: Return to Work Principles Thursday, June 15 | 11am - 12pm MST When an injury happens, it's the employers responsibility to offer employees modified work. Return-to-work planning helps you make sure a solid plan is in place to get your injured workers back to work safely. This session will cover:

  1. WCB legislation and your responsibilities as an employer.
  2. Best practices for when injuries happen.
  3. How to identify modified work.
  4. Tools and resources to assist with developing your return-to-work program.

This session is designed for people in management, as well as people involved in health and safety coordination and claims/disability management within your Hotel. This webinar is part of a four week special, free to all AHLA members & safety subscribers. Each session must be registered for individually. Session Three: Claim Costs and WCB Premium Rates Thursday, June 22 | 11am - 12pm MST WCB-Alberta is here to help you when an injury occurs at work. This session will help hoteliers better understand how injuries in the workplace affect their WCB claims costs and annual premiums. You will also learn about your experience rating as well as cost relief criteria. This session is designed for people in management, as well as people involved in health and safety coordination and claims/disability management within your Hotel. This webinar is part of a four week special, free to all AHLA members & safety subscribers. Each session must be registered for individually. Session Four: Training On-The-Job (TOJ) Program Thursday, June 29 | 11am - 12pm MST The training-on-the-job (TOJ) program is designed to help workers who are unable to go back to their regular job and employer. The worker develops skills and gains work experience while you receive financial and other support from WCB during your new employee's training period. Join this session and learn how you have the power to change the human and financial impacts of workplace injuries and how WCB’s TOJ program can help your business. This session is designed for people in management, as well as people involved in health and safety coordination and claims/disability management within your Hotel.
