As DMF discussions continue to evolve, AHLA has provided further input to the government to ensure our members concerns are heard. With 46% of AHLA members participating in a DMF, this issue is not only operationally significant, it’s foundational to how our sector funds marketing, attracts visitors, and drives local economic prosperity. Because of this, AHLA has provided additional input to government as they consider a legislative framework.
AHLA has emphasized the following priorities:
1. DMF legislation must focus on driving economic growth, not sustaining DMOs.
2. Participation must remain voluntary, and contributors should not remit directly to a DMO.
3. DMOs should not be permitted to set DMF rates.
4. No level of government should administer a DMF.
5. A trustee system is essential for transparency, accountability, and compliance.
AHLA will continue to advocate strongly for a DMF framework that respects member input, protects industry interests, and supports long-term sector growth. As government consultations continue, we remain committed to ensuring your priorities are not only heard, but reflected in the final regulatory approach.
