Consumer Complaints
From time to time, the AHLA receives complaints from consumers about properties that participate in the Approved Accommodation program. The AHLA will not side with either the consumer or the property in a complaint, and does not have the authority to compel a property to act on a complaint. However, the AHLA encourages Approved Accommodations to address guest complaints in order for both sides to arrive at a mutually satisfactory solution.

Eligibility for Government Highway Signs
Sometimes they need more than a map. You can point your guests in the right direction–towards your property–with a highway sign. Approved Accommodation inspections by the AHLA are a major criteria in the approval process to be eligible for highway signage by the Tourism Oriented Directional Signs (TODS) and Logo Signs Program.

Green Key Eco-Rating
The Hotel Association of Canada's (HAC) Green Key Eco-Rating Program is a graduated rating system designed to recognize hotels, motels, and resorts that are committed to improving their fiscal and environmental performance. Based on the results of a comprehensive environmental audit, properties are awarded a 1-5 Green Key rating.

Housekeeping Awards
The AHLA annually inspects participating fixed roof accommodations in Alberta. Our Quality Assurance Advisors normally arrive at a property unannounced to ensure that the standards of comfort and cleanliness they experience are what any visitor would encounter. These inspections form the basis of the selection of Housekeeping Award recipients. To qualify for an award, a property must demonstrate excellence in all categories of cleanliness, comfort and maintenance.
