AHLA States Position on Alberta's Minimum Wage

Earlier this year, the Honourable Thomas Lukaszuk, Minister of Employment & Immigration, announced that the government would freeze the minimum wage for 2010 and that it would be reviewing its policy on the minimum wage.  This review is now underway, and is meant to ensure that Alberta's minimum wage policy meets the current and future needs of workers and employers, and remains relevant throughout changes to the economic climate. 

The AHLA will be representing our members' interests as the government reviews its minimum wage policy.

Alberta's Minimum Wage

The Government of Alberta has announced that there will be no change to the minimum wage in 2010.  Alberta's minimum wage is currently $8.80 per hour.
