Hotel Glassware - Your Choice is Clear

Make sure your Housekeeping team's practices protect the health of your guests and your business. Under the Food Regulation, which falls under Alberta's Public Health Act, dishware, including guest room glassware, must undergo proper washing, rinsing and sanitizing between uses. This can be done by manual dishwashing using a three compartment sink, or mechanical dishwashing.

In addition to negative guest feedback, properties who do not clean guest room glassware according to the standards set out in the Food Regulation may be subject to penalties under the Public Health Act. The AHLA's Quality Assurance Team advises that it is acceptable to provide single use, disposable glasses in guest rooms if it is not feasible to use either of the above two cleaning methods.
