Government Announces Plan for Parks
“In developing the Plan for Parks, we consulted extensively with a lot of passionate Albertans, and we worked hard to balance conservation objectives with recreational needs,” said Cindy Ady, Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation. “We will continue work with Albertans to determine the most appropriate ways to manage parks in their communities. Decisions about managing parks will be based on what Albertans want, and on what science tells us is good for the land.”
The plan for parks will be supported with nearly $85 million in 2009. Parks programs and operations are slated to receive just over $67 million, and replacement and upgrading of facilities and infrastructure will continue with nearly $18 million in capital investment.
