— WHO WE ARE —
The Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1919 which represents a broad cross section of Alberta's accommodation and tourism industry. Our association is governed by a Board of Directors elected from member properties throughout Alberta.
The AHLA works hard to maintain a positive dialogue with members of the Legislative Assembly and government departments, including officials at Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, Alberta Tourism, Parks, Recreation & Culture, the Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission, and Travel Alberta, to advance the interests of the hospitality industry in Alberta. The AHLA researches, prepares and presents briefs to all levels of government educating them about the accommodation industry’s position on relevant legislation, regulations and policies.
To ensure our members are well represented and informed, the AHLA is active in several national and provincial committees and associations including the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) and the American Hotel & Lodging Association. Through these organizations, we address issues of national concern such as:
- Tourism
- Finance & taxation
- Human resources & immigration
- Telecommunications
- Environment, natural resources, & conservation
- SOCAN
- Transportation
— WHO OUR MEMBERS ARE —
Our members are owners and operators of hotels, motels, inns, resorts, bed and breakfasts, lodges, campgrounds and company suppliers to the tourism industry.
AHLA members play an active role in determining the policies and objectives of AHLA and have an essential voice in the affairs of the association and the direction taken on current issues.
